Giant Parforce Hunting

This detailed and ritualistic system of hunting included eight parts: the quest (tracking the game), the assembly (preparing & planning the hunt accompanied by breakfast), the relays (positioning the dogs in the path of the game, so as not to exhaust the dogs), the moving (fine tuned tracking), the chase (the actual hunt – where the dogs ran down and exhausted the game), the baying (the kill by sword or spear), the unmaking (the careful processing of the kill) and the curée (the dogs are rewarded).
